Traditional chip bags are difficult to open, not recyclable, and not resealable. I redesigned the packaging to solve these three problems. The redesigned chip bags are made from 40% recycled natural kraft paper and lined with PLA, a renewable and compostable film made from corn. To open, just remove the safety seal sticker, bend back the tin ties, and unroll. Tin ties allow the bag to be resealed over and over. Because potatoes are indigenous to the Andes, in the heights of Peru, this packaging takes inspiration from ancient Incan textiles and Peruvian culture. The figures and geometric patterns are drawn from patterns on Incan rugs and tapestries.
