Motor oil packaging: Caltex
Brief:
Create a pack for 500ml of motor oil. This product will be sold at the forecourts of petrol stations. Caltex is chosen as the existing brand to repackage their design.
Target market:
Young first time car owners.
Rationale:
I decided to create motor oil for first time car owners who don’t yet know oil specifications for their particular vehicle. Existing products neglect to inform first time users of the importance of choosing the right type of oil and of seasonal varieties.
I designed an easy to follow guide included on the package label, that make choosing the right oil much easier. A promotional key ring that contains relevant information relating to the particular vehicle serves as a handy reminder of specifications.
I used typography to create a simple numbering system. The design of the packaging is simple and straightforward and will differentiate the product and improve shelf impact. It is bold and designed to appeal to a younger audience of first time car owners.
