To mark their 150th anniversary John Lewis is stocking exclusive products created by iconic designers and brands.
One of these products happens to be the Swan Teasmade, for which we were privileged to create the special edition packaging.
Despite being a 21st century, special edition product we opted for a retro look for this packaging, thinking “how would the original Teasmade have been sold?” With product illustrations, the original brand logo and a distressed effect, the final solution gives the impression that this has come straight from the 1920s.
We adopted a teal and spearmint combination, synonymous with the patterns of William Morris, prevalent around the opening of the first John Lewis store.
The complete project included packaging and instruction manual design, promotional photography and saw an initial batch of products completely sell out within the first month of release.
