Mezcal El Terco

This is a proposal we did for a redesign contest involving the Mezcal brand El Terco which is made in San Dionisio Octotepec, Oaxaca. The challenge was to redesign their image and packaging keeping the brand’s main elements the turtle and textures. Since we did not like their current graphic style we decided to reinterpret the images, give it a less rustic feel and make it more appealing to younger and foreign customers.

The turtle is an important part of the brand’s previous personality so we incorporated multiple details that remind us of their surroundings and history.

For this project we worked alongside the Architecture Studio DEFORMA which we’d like to thank for their invitation to participate in this project.
