Logotype and packaging design for fictional brand Black Moon, a premium sake infused with black tea. (Design College Australia project)
The design needed to communicate the mystery and tradition of Japan to a market who may be unfamiliar with its history. The logotype is inspired by a folk tale in which a samurai fired an arrow through a cloud to kill a
tiger-like spirit inside, before burying it in the Sea of Japan. The traditional Japanese woodcut technique was used on the packaging to create the waves of the sea, and the markings of the spirit.
