An eco-friendly, sustainable packaging design for strawberries, ‘A Tessellated Refuge’ takes up the shape of half a hexagon, one of the most protective natural forms on earth. Designed with a tessellated allowance for air circulation and visibility, it attracts the user at first sight. The earth brown color of the package is not only eye-soothing, but also gives a sense of homeliness with the simple and contrasting minimalistic graphics.
The strawberry-seed inspired tessellation on the top of the package not only supports continuous airflow within the package, but also enhances the confidence and reliability of the customer by its visibility of the contents. The unique stacking method of this packaging helps in maintaining this continuous air circulation even during storage and transportation. The triangular gaps are created while stacking, is not only for this ventilation but also to attract the user by its pattern formed on the storage rack.
the cardboard material used is eco-friendly and disposable, attenting to the modern search for earth-freindly packaging.
This simple package is formed with minimal cuts and minimal paste lines. By press cutting the stencil, mass production of the package can be made easier, reaching a larger group of customers. Each detail of the journey from the strawberry farm to the user’s home including storage, color and graphics have been considered into this ‘Tessellated Refuge’.
