The Legend of Atherton Rum
George and Gertude Atherton were part of the San Francisco elite during the late 1800’s but when George die’s on a ship to chile the captain decides to store George’s body in a barrel of rum which would preserve it well enough to get sent back home. I did extensive history and cultural research prior to beginning the design process. Using custom display type and real photographs and letters from the Atherton family, I was able to portray the spooky story through packaging.
